Brick Stars

Building confidence, connections and creativity — brick by brick

At Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, we believe that every child deserves to feel valued, understood and able to shine.

Brick Stars is a fun, engaging brick-based intervention that gives children a safe and supportive space to develop their social, emotional and communication skills — while having fun and building together.

Through carefully structured, collaborative brick activities, children work with an adult and their peers to practise skills such as communication, listening, turn-taking, teamwork, problem-solving and emotional regulation.

The Brick Stars Team

Building more than bricks

Brick Stars is about much more than what children build.

As children work together on brick challenges, they are encouraged to:

Build relationships — developing positive connections with adults and peers.

Build communication — sharing ideas, listening to others and expressing themselves.

Build teamwork — learning to cooperate, take turns and work towards a shared goal.

Build problem-solving skills — thinking creatively, trying new ideas and managing challenges.

Build confidence — experiencing success and recognising their own strengths.

Build emotional resilience — developing strategies to manage feelings, frustration and setbacks.

A place to shine

Brick Stars provides a calm, structured environment where children can experience success without pressure. The emphasis is on strengths, relationships and positive experiences, helping children to recognise what they can do.

For some children, talking directly about feelings, friendships or challenges can feel difficult. LEGO provides a natural starting point for conversation and connection. Working side-by-side can make communication feel easier and allow children to develop important skills in a way that feels playful rather than pressured.

Brick Stars reflects our wider school vision: “Rooted in Faith, we Reach for the Stars.”

We want every child to know that they belong, that they have strengths to share and that they can achieve great things.

Through Brick Stars, we are helping children to build the skills, confidence and relationships they need to reach for the stars.

Can you help us build our Brick Stars collection?

We are now looking to build our resources so that as many children as possible can benefit from Brick Stars.

If you have any good-quality, pre-loved LEGO or DUPLO bricks and pieces at home that are no longer being used, we would be delighted to give them a new home at school.  Please bring donations to our School Office.

You can also support Brick Stars by choosing an item from our Amazon Wish List. Every donation, however big or small, will go directly towards our Brick Stars sessions.

Amazon Wish List

Every brick we collect will help us create opportunities for children; building models along with confidence, connections and friendships.

Who might take part?

Children will be considered based on their strengths, interests and individual needs, particularly where Brick Stars may support social communication, friendships, confidence, collaboration or emotional wellbeing.

Parents and carers, as well as teachers, will be able to express an interest or recommend their child. Our trained facilitator will then carefully consider children's needs, interests and suitability for collaborative brick play when creating each group.  Parents should speak to their child's class teacher in the first instance, then message via Studybugs.

Groups will be planned to create a positive, supportive and inclusive mix of children, with activities adapted to individual strengths and needs.

See Brick Clubs in action

Brick Clubs can have a wonderful impact on children's confidence, communication and relationships. If you'd like to find out more about the approach, please take a look at this short You Tube video and for more information, follow the link below to the Play Included page:

Thank you to Stratford Rotary Club

A huge thank you to Stratford Rotary for their generous support of our Brick Stars project at Holy Trinity C of E Primary School.

Their contribution has helped us to develop our brick-based provision, by paying for a team member to receive Play Included' Brick by Brick Facilitator Certification.  Launching Brick Stars at Holy Trinity C of E Primary School will give children opportunities to build confidence, develop friendships, strengthen communication and practise important social and emotional skills through purposeful play.

Brick Stars is about so much more than building bricks. It provides children with a safe, positive and engaging space where they can experience success, work alongside others and discover their own strengths.

We are incredibly grateful to Stratford Rotary for helping us to make this possible.
