Collective Worship

Rooted in faith, we reach for the stars.

"May Christ dwell in our hearts through faith as we are rooted and grounded in love"

Ephesians 3:17

Collective Worship is a cornerstone of our community, taking place every afternoon, either as a whole school or in classes. This sacred time allows us to reflect on the day’s events, fostering spiritual growth and connection among pupils and staff. Through their Leading Light Representatives, Children carry the light of their classrooms into whole school collective worship and return to their classrooms with that light, ensuring the spiritual insights gained continue to illuminate our week.

As a Church of England school, our collective worship is Christian in character and rooted in the teachings and example of Jesus. At the same time, worship is planned to be inclusive, invitational and inspiring, ensuring that all members of our school community feel welcomed, valued and respected. Pupils are invited to engage in worship in ways that are meaningful and appropriate for them, and opportunities for reflection are offered without compulsion.  If children and adult participants wish to make the prayer their own, they are invited to say Amen at the end.

Our daily act of worship timetable:

Monday Whole school worship led by Mrs Herrero
Tuesday Class Based Worship  / Visitor from Holy Trinity Church / Open the Book
Wednesday Whole school worship led by school staff
Thursday Singing Worship
Friday Story and Song / Class Celebration Assembly / Class Based Worship
Our weekly Big Question, co-created by our Light Leaders, encourages further exploration and discussion. Pupils are invited to bring their Big Question books into worship, prompting deeper reflection and engagement.

As a Church of England school, our collective worship aligns with our school vision, “Rooted in Faith, we Reach for the Stars,” inspired by Ephesians 3:17: “May Christ dwell in our hearts through faith, as we are rooted and grounded in love.” This vision informs our aspirations to excel in all endeavours and supports pupils in developing wisdom, hope and spiritual understanding.

We cherish our school values—Community, Aspiration, Resilience, and Enjoyment—grounded in the teachings of Jesus, and promote a culture of Courageous Advocacy, inspiring pupils to champion their causes. While not all our pupils identify as Christian, our collective worship reflects the Church of England’s guidance that worship should be inclusive, invitational and inspiring, affirming dignity, respect and tolerance for people of all faiths and none.
